EXPATS LAW FIRM • SINCE 2019

The law firm for people who live and do business internationally

Moving to another country changes far more than an address.

For a family as for a business, every border crossed can have consequences for tax, companies, immigration, contracts, employment, investments or assets.

Expats Law Firm was designed to support these changes as a whole, without requiring clients to split their project across a multitude of issues and advisers.

France • Canada • Dubai • Ras Al Khaimah

THE ORIGINS OF EXPATS LAW FIRM

A firm shaped by the experience of expatriation

In 2019, after her own expatriation, Justine Basilio founded Expats Law Firm.

Her career across several jurisdictions quickly led her to one conclusion: international clients rarely need an isolated legal answer. They need to understand how several legal systems, several countries and several decisions interact within a single situation.

Expats Law Firm grew out of this reality.

Firm establishment

Expats Law Firm was founded to address the legal issues faced by expatriates, entrepreneurs, and businesses operating across multiple countries.

Expats Law Firm was built around one aim: to support a family's expatriation as naturally as a business's international expansion.

WHY EXPATS LAW FIRM?

Because an international project never falls under just one area of law

International projects do not naturally divide up by area of law or by country.

An executive leaving France for Dubai may need to deal with their tax residency, remuneration, French company, new UAE structure, visa, property and assets all at the same time.

A business opening a subsidiary abroad may need to coordinate corporate law, international tax, contracts, intra-group flows, immigration, employee mobility, employment law and regulatory compliance.

The client sees a single project. So do we.

That is why Expats Law Firm approaches each matter as a whole, from the initial analysis through to implementation.

A FIRM FOR YOUR INTERNATIONAL LIFE

Expatriation and setting up abroad: support at every stage

Our work does not necessarily end with a legal opinion.

Depending on the project's needs, Expats Law Firm can be involved from the very first discussions through to practical implementation.

01

Before departure

Analysis of the existing situation, risk identification, tax residency, choice of jurisdiction, project structuring and preparation of the necessary steps.

02

On arrival

Company formation, immigration, contracts, formalities, local set-up and legal and tax organisation.

03

During growth

New subsidiaries, team mobility and recruitment, restructuring, investments, international contracts and changes in flows.

04

When circumstances change

A new relocation, a sale, a change of structure, a return to the home country, succession or wealth reorganisation.

An international project evolves. So does our support.

A LEGAL PRACTICE WITHOUT BORDERS

Three anchors: France, Canada and the United Arab Emirates

The historical core of our practice rests on three legal environments: France, Canada and the United Arab Emirates, with a presence in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah.

In the jurisdictions where the firm holds the required professional qualifications, we act directly.

Where other countries are involved, we work with the necessary local lawyers, tax advisers and professionals and coordinate their work with the overall strategy of the matter.

Our clients therefore keep a single point of legal coordination, even when several countries and several advisers are involved.

For certain complementary aspects, particularly real estate, the firm may also work with specialist partners, including Daftime and Expat Living Real Estate.

THE EXPATS LAW FIRM TEAM

Let's discuss your project as a whole.
